Doing Nothing

Well, I'm waiting for Michaela to wake up so we can go do our Historic Pres project, so I'm going to go ahead and blog. I just finished a moderately successful XC season. I spent a good deal of it injured but still managed to place way higher on the team than I expected. I'm pretty pissed I finished my season with a 30:02 8k time. But considering I only ran it 3 times on some of the nastiest courses around, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. It's XC. Indoor doens't start for a while so I'm trying to take this week completely off and then cross train next week and then start lightly running again the week after.
Oh, by the way. CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!

My classes are going pretty well. I'm probably going to end up with two A's and two B's which isn't too bad. I'm taking intensive spanish, world civ I, Music Theory II and Theory II skills, and...something else next semester. Can't remember at the moment. I really wanted to take the intro to Logic course but it got filled by sophomores. Hmph!

I'm slowly, and by slowly I mean very slowly making new friends. The XC team is still where I'm happiest and I feel like I belong the most. I've never felt so solidly part of a team before. It's hard to beat that.

But now I'm going to go get a pumpkin spice chai tea latte and do my project.

Haven't Blogged in a While

Made the team. But that's not a very important story. Point is, I did. Had an EXCELLENT team meeting. These guys really are a team, not just individuals. I TORE up my workout today. It felt great. I think a good part of that was the temperature was perfect.

Went swimming today instead of working out. Poor choice. Well, not in the long run. But i'm really tired now.

VII

Easy day today. I did about 7 miles with Frank today. It was great. We did some strides and he said I had crazy foot speed because I was one of the few guys on the team who could consistently keep up with him on strides. Sweet. I was going faster than I usually do, but their version of strides are much faster, so I mean, it was normal for them. On like...my 5th stride? These dumbass frisbee guys were playing, completely oblivious to our strides and one guy threw one right in my face. Instinctively, and honestly on the downstroke of my arm's stride I swatted the thing straight to the ground. But I guess it looked really impressive. He certainly retold the story in detail when we got back to the gym. Sweet.

I then proceeded to eat approximately half of my body weight in pizza, pasta, pork, apple sauce, mashed potatoes and gelato.

Then I did my laundry. Which is still wet, but I don't want to spend an ADDITIONAL 1.25 to REALLY dry them.

I honestly have a shit ton of homework here. But it's all reading. Unfortunately my capacity reading has diminished since last year. I'll need to get back into reading books like Amsco. It's all so dense, and so long. Like...it took me a good hour to read my geology chapter tonight. And I've spent most of the afternoon reading my John Ford book, which is actually great. But the guy who wrote it must have had trouble focusing, since I frequently lose where he's going and I have to go back and reread to find out what he said.

But yeah. Ramen time!

Sorry for the crappy post.

VII (because I say it is)

We were supposed to have XC tryouts today, so I slept in till noon almost, ate really well and chewed it up really small. Stressed for a while. Played guitar to calm the nerves. Then I headed over to Goolrick only to hear that it was too hot to do the time trial, so we are gonna do it friday. Well Dammit. We did have a workout though, and it kicked my ass. But by the end I was feeling great and I destroyed my last two three minute pickups. I passed a bunch of people too, so I looked better finishing. But that doesn't matter since Soper was monitoring us in his car. But at least I solidly hammered one kid, and I beat one of the other freshies from about 40 meters back on the last pick up.

That was my day. I then went to dinner. Went back to Russell. Played guitar, and then called Joy. Having no class on tuesday is pretty sweet.

Uhhh. Lost the number. Too Lazy to look.

So apparently when I've stumped the help desk. I CAN NOT access my email. And I kept telling them I wasn't retarded, something was wrong. But they were just like "oh try this, oh try that." But I finally talked to a guy this morning who was like, I'll pass this on to someone who knows more. Thank god. I've missed so many things with my email down.

Anyway. First day of classes. My European history class actually isn't that at all? It's a history of John Ford films. I think his first name is John. It's one of those common names. But that willbe really cool. We get to watch 10 movies in the course of the class. And it counts towards a history major. Music theory is really cool too. Dr. Long is probably my favorite teacher as of right now. Geology? Not so much. I mean I like the teacher...I think, but the class is..well...rocks for jocks mostly.

I had my audition for lessons yesterday. I sucked hard. But the teacher took me anyway. He's really cool. Apparently he's some sort of jazz extraordinaire but he's also well versed in classical, blues, rock and al of those things.

I'm going to go play some guitar now.

V

So, the first honestly good day I've had at UMW was today. When Joy came. It was really great just to hang out with her all day even though I had to wait for her in the pouring rain for 40 minutes haha. Not much to blog about tonight. THERE IS A 5 GUYS IN FREDERICKSBURG!!! But it must be new since I didn't see it online. But anyway, Joy and I ate there today and it was excellent.

Last night I was up till about 3 in the morning practicing my guitar in the stairwell. I'm making quite a few names for my self in this dorm. Like, that naked guy since I pretty much only wear running shorts when I'm here, or that naked guy who's really good at guitar. Apparently some guy was sitting in the bathroom and he heard me playing and thought it was really cool since it echoed into the bathroom. Yeahhhhh.....

Audition tomorrow.
Goodnight

IV?

It's getting better I guess. I'm slowly meeting more people that I actually like. Not the bros or slam pieces as Jake calls them. I went out and had a nice run with him tonight though. I've honestly never liked him but running with him today showed me a different, less asshat side of him. He usually comes off as arrogant and a prick but he was quite modest and kind around me. I was taken by surprise. He was like come do your run with me and I didn't really want to, but I figured since he had just had a collapsed lung he wouldn't try to kill me.

I'm going to go practice for my audition which is in two days now though. I don't have to get up till 10 tomorrow!!!!

III

Getting a little better. I got to hang out with the XC guys today who are really cool. Still pretty homesick though.

BUT, I saw this illusionist guy today. He was the most legit thing I have ever seen. He was so good. He was calling out people's girlfriend's and parents names and their phone numbers and stuff. Like, you would have to see it but I was THOROUGHLY impressed.

But anyway. Heading to bed? Or just hanging out for a little.

II

Morning of day II, well afternoon of day two since it is in fact, after noon. I missed breakfast and ALMOST missed my meeting with my adviser this morning. Our alarm didn't go off. But my adviser is really, really cool. I like her bunches. We went to this drug, alcohol, rape meeting after the meeting with our advisers which was less cool. They had these videos that I could have done much better, but whatever.

I'm actually ALONE in my room. It's great. It's almost a manageable temperature but definitely not comfortable yet.

But I'm going to go record a video for someone. I'll post later.

The College Chronicals PART I?

Or something like that.

As Aleina reminded me, I said I would try to blog in college. Maybe it'll be my little way of keeping part of my old (very old) routine.
I'm not sure how I feel about college yet honestly. Like, it's good to be here, but I'm not really comfortable yet. I'm honestly pretty homesick. It's so hot here too. You guys know how well I do with the heat. I think I'm going to die. DIE. It's so disgusting here.

I really need to find a place where I can just BE BY MYSELF. It's great having roommates, but I want to be alone sometimes! Or, actually, rather frequently. I'm just used to spending most of my day in silence or at least with an absence of people jabbering. Now I'm surrounded by 1000 freshmen who are all so excited to be here. Bleh.

I'm really not sure if I'd have been happier at JMU or UMW at this point. They seem very similar to me at this point in time. At least at JMU I'd be closer to home. I think this is the first time I've really considered the idea that I may have made the wrong choice in colleges. I don't want to make that judgment for a while yet. Like I said. Just feeling lonely and homesick even though I'm surrounded by hundreds of people.

I think I'm going to head to bed for the night though. Need to get up early tomorrow to do more bonding stuff.

Emory and Henry

I'm a little confused. I got home from pit today and my mom told me to take a look at a letter from Emory and Henry on the table. The letter informed me that I had been accepted into their college and they were looking forward to seeing me on one of their prospective student days. I didn't even complete my app. I just checked it. It's still incomplete. Yet they sent me a letter saying it was complete. I guess it feels pretty good that I got into a school I didn't even finish applying to.

Pit was ok today. My fingers are legit bleeding though. It's a good thing I have a set of new strings cause mine are dead.

I really need to get off blogger and do my homework, but if senioritis hadn't kicked in a little while ago it sure has now. But I'm going to write my paper anyway.
