Almoooooooost done

I've so far knocked out 2 of my four exams. Western Civ wasn't bad at all but Spanish...oh boy. That one hurt. Yes, it's intensive but still...ouch. All I have left now is two music theory ones. Neither should be too bad. I probably need to go study for those soon but I really don't have any desire to do anything. Nap first? Then music.

---------------

I'm kind of annoyed (and by kind of I mean it really bothers me) how much time I waste now. Facebook. The worst. I spend so much time doing...nothing. Like, if I took all of the time I spent on facebook doing nothing and put it toward, lets say, music theory or guitar I could get into Berkeley. Maybe I'll try to ween myself off of Facebook. I'll never delete it unfortunately. I have too many ties to people that are only through FB but maybe I can limit myself to only getting on it a few times a day or only for a short amount of time.

----------------

One week until I can start running again. Less than one week actually. Six days. I was convinced for a while I didn't actually have a stress fracture and that I just had shin splints but when it still hurt 4 weeks after I stopped running I realized I had a problem. I really hope it's healthy now. I've waited almost seven week and I really want to run. It's not even because I feel out of shape or I feel the need to be ready for XC. It's therapeutic for me. I can't convey it in words like Andy can but I feel the same way. I need it. It's been hard not being able to run with some of the, well, traumatic events that have recently happened in my life. I turned that energy to getting big instead (haha). That being said I put on quite a bit of muscle in my, shall we say, "off season."

Now I don't know what to do. XC runners are supposed to be scrawny creatures but mid distance runners are supposed to be powerful machines. Do I allow all of this hard work I've been doing to fade away so I am light by the time XC comes around or do I continue to lift and get even stronger by next track season? I honestly really like having all of this muscle. Being strong is a new feeling for me. I mean, I'm obviously not huge. I'm bitching over around 12-15lbs right now. Yeah, there's my freshman 15. I feel like losing that 15 lbs wouldn't really do anything for me in XC. Sure, i'd be 15 lbs lighter but I would be 15lbs weaker. I think I shall continue to lift. Maybe stop trying to put on weight for a while though and just sustain and tone.

-------------------

Someone recently told me to practice my music all I can in college because I won't have any time after I graduate. She said you will be as good as you are when you graduate for the rest of your life. I can't really believe that. I've always improved dramatically. Not just in playing but in composition, theory and skills. I can't see myself not having an hour a day to practice even when I have a job. Hm. Something to think about though. I've been spending a loooot of time in the practice rooms recently. More for voice and piano than guitar really.

I'm starting to get annoyed at how I am occasionally treated as a guitar player. As a lesser musician. I think it took some people in the music dept. until they saw my juries to stop looking down on me. "Excellent player. Excellent musician. Sight reading needs work." I compose too! I know plenty of players here that have 0 creativity. Grrrrrrrrr. I think that's why I've slightly turned more towards piano. People see it as more of a legitimate instrument. I'll never give up guitar. It's still my pride and joy (Stevie). But I feel the need for proficiency in another instrument. Or two. Or three. Violin lessons anyone?

-----------------------

My roommate...Oh boy. It's gotten to the point where EVERYTHING HE DOES ANNOYS ME. EVERYTHING. THE FACT THAT HE IS BREATHING RIGHT NOW ANNOYS ME. yeah. 3 more days. 3.

That felt good.
